Michael C. "Mike" Perez, 96, of Parsons died at 1:50 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor.
He was born on August 12, 1919 in Parsons, Kansas to José and Maria (Marez) Perez. He grew up in Parsons and attended St. Patrick's Catholic School.
In 1941, he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945, he returned to Parsons. Mike worked for several years as a self-employed plasterer and concrete finisher. He later worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant until retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed playing golf, working on small engines, and in earlier years fishing. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He and Consuelo "Connie" Gonzalez were married on January 30, 1947 in Parsons. She survives.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post #704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m., following the rosary.
