Michael D. "Mike" Ryan, 63, of Parsons, passed away at 10:54 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
The son of James Martin and Margaret Louise "Peggy" (Burkhart) Titus was born June 23, 1953 in Tooele, Utah. For a time, Mike's family lived in St. Paul, Kansas before moving to Parsons when he was three years old. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School, Lincoln Elementary School, and was a 1971 graduate of Parsons High School.
In earlier years, he worked at LaForge and Budd Construction Company in Parsons as a cement finisher before starting his own construction business. Most recently, Mike worked in construction with Zach Stevens.
He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mike loved his family and was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending the boys' sporting events and teaching them, and his granddaughter, how to hunt and fish. Mike was a member of the National Rifle Association.
On August 27, 1971, Mike married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Linda Kay Modica. The couple celebrated 45 years of marriage last August.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ryan, of the home; two sons, Jacob M. Ryan and his wife, Julie, of Altamont, KS and Dek Ryan and his wife, Mandy, of Parsons, KS; five grandchildren, Austin Ryan, Klein Ryan, JaDavian Ryan, Jacelynn Ryan and Ahziah Ryan; two brothers, Pat Ryan and his wife, Shanna, of Parsons, KS and Tom Titus and his wife, Jeannie, of Labette City, KS; and one sister, Jane Titus, of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Titus, on April 14, 2001; his mother, Peggy Titus, on December 14, 2008; and one brother, Frank Ryan, on May 30, 2009.
Following cremation, the rosary will be prayed at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Immediately following the rosary, the family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
