Michael H. O'Rourke

Michael H. O'Rourke, 71, formerly of Parsons, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2019, in Marietta, Georgia.

Michael Hugh O'Rourke was born on September 2, 1948, to John J. "Jack" and Loretta (Carr) O'Rourke in Parsons. As a young boy, he grew up in Parsons and attended St. Patrick Catholic School. In 1966, he graduated from St. Patrick Catholic High School as the valedictorian. He then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, in January 1970.

For one and a half years, Michael taught high school in Puerto Rico. He then worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of his professional career was spent as a realtor.

Michael was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed travelling, taking several trips to Ireland and Europe.

Survivors Include:

One Brother – Daniel O'Rourke and his wife, Cathy, of Overland Park, KS

Two Nephews – Jonathan O'Rourke and Devin O'Rourke

One Niece – Ellie O'Rourke

One Great-Niece – Adrianne O'Rourke

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tim O'Rourke; and one sister, Colleen O'Rourke.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
