Michael D. Rumbaugh, 49, of Chetopa, died at his home Thursday, December 9, 2010. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.
He was born July 5, 1961, in Liberal, Kansas, to Billy Don and Mary (Calhoun) Rumbaugh. At the age of two, his family moved to Chetopa where he attended schools and was a 1979 graduate of Chetopa High School. He then attended North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit.
Through the years he worked as a heavy equipment operator until becoming disabled in 1986 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He attended the Faith Baptist Church in Chetopa. He enjoyed watching sporting events and spending time with his dogs, Sally and Panda.

One Sister – Diana Snead Oswego, KS
Stepfather – Gary Olson Oswego, KS
Two Nieces – Trista Dodson Carl Junction, MO
Jennifer Rumbaugh Aurora, CO
Nephew – Devon Rumbaugh Aurora, CO
Two Great-Nieces - Madison Dodson & Keatyn Dodson
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Olson; and father, Billy Don Rumbaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2010, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
