It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael Joseph Slack, or as some would call "Joe," "Slack," or "Joey," a man of kindness and compassion, on August 6, 2023. Born on April 2, 1998, Michael had a personality that could bring you peace and comfort in the most trying of times. He was a beacon of calmness in any storm and his forgiving heart was a testament to his selfless spirit.
Michael's life was marked by significant accomplishments, prime among them being the loving family he created. He was an exceptional husband, a doting father, and his family brought him the greatest joy. The lessons he leaves behind are a testament to his resilience and strength. Above all, he taught us how to keep a steady head, regardless of the circumstance.
In many ways, Michael's legacy is one of perseverance and forgiveness. His attitude in the face of adversity and his ability to forgive will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. As we grieve his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, marked by countless acts of kindness, and a heart full of love and grace.
Michael is survived by his wife Kaitlyn Slack, daughters Jaleigh Slack, Josie Slack and his heavenly daughter Annalia Slack; his mother Christy Goodloe, father Leroy Slack, sister Katelin Robinson, brother Shawn Slack, and heavenly sister Audrey Slack; his extended family Julia Rosenberg, Fred Rosenberg, Lane Rosenberg, Katelynn "Rosie" Rosenberg, Patch Loadholtz II, and Kage Rosenberg- whom he loved with his whole heart. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many. His loss is deeply felt by Kaitlyn, his daughters, and everyone whose lives were touched by his spirit. The void he leaves behind will be hard to fill, but the love and memories will continue to comfort and inspire us- and we will always root for the Chiefs and Royals on game days as he would have.
We will honor Michael's memory with a memorial service on August 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. We will share stories, shed tears, and remember a man of unmatched kindness, a man who lived life with open-hearted generosity and forgiveness. Immediately following the service family and friends are welcome to join together for food and camaraderie at the Elks Lodge in Parsons.
Michael's sudden passing is a heartbreaking loss. He is greatly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones. While he may no longer be with us, his spirit is alive in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
