Michael D. Walters, 45, of Parsons, passed away at 8:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 23, 1970 in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Ronnie D. Walters and Carol E. (Carson) Walters. Mike grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a 1988 graduate of Parsons High School.
For a time, Mike worked at the Parsons Theatre and Drive-In. He also worked for Schwann's where he had a delivery route for seven years. Mike later began working for Wichita Southeast Kansas Trucking Company, now Old Dominion Freight Line, where he was currently employed as an operations manager.
Mike was an avid KU Jayhawk fan, enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Royals baseball team, fishing, going to rock concerts, and especially enjoyed the Shinedown group. Mike attended the Parsons Church of the Nazarene.
Mike was united in marriage to Cristine K. Marquardt on April 16, 1994 in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Walters, who passed away on May 28, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Parsons Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the church.
