Mickie Y. Underwood

Mickie Y. Underwood, 70, of rural Edna, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

She was born November 27, 1946 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Calvin Yale and Clara Louise (Kincheloe) Herron. She grew up and attended school in Tyro and Coffeyville, Kansas.

She and Paul Starmer were married January 13, 1963 at the Angola United Methodist Church. They lived in various places while her husband was employed by the railroad. They then returned to the Starmer family farm near Angola. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1994.

On December 7, 1994, she and Mike Underwood were married in Harrison, Arkansas. Following marriage, the couple continued to live near Angola.

In the past, she attended the Angola United Methodist Church. Mickie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Mike Underwood, of the home; one son, Roddy Starmer and his wife, Amy, Altamont, KS; one daughter, Deanna Starr and her husband, Mike, Mound Valley, KS; one stepson, Joe Underwood, Kansas City, KS; three stepdaughters, Carol Tomlinson, Coffeyville, KS, Kelli George and her husband, Shane, Coffeyville, KS, and Melinda Garcia and her husband, Alex, Joplin, MO; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one brother, Earl Dale Herron and his wife, Nancy, Gladstone, MO; and one sister, Gail Ruppelius, Spokane, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Private graveside services will be held under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery near Angola.
