Michael T. "Mike" Walker, 53, of rural Parsons, passed away at Freeman West in Joplin, on the evening of Thursday, April 25, 2019.
He was born on June 23, 1965, in Columbus, Kansas. His parents were Maurice "Manny" and Linda (Mercer) Walker. As a young boy, he grew up in rural Hallowell and the rural Oswego areas. He attended Labette County High School in Altamont where he graduated in 1983.
For several years, Mike worked on the family farm and was currently employed by Old Dominion Freight Line, where he recently received the Million Mile Safety Award.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Dinky. His hobbies included fishing, tinkering, swimming, grilling, cooking, and tending to his blackberry patch.
Survivors include: His Wife - Elizabeth "Beth" Williams of the home; His Mother – Linda Omtvedt of Nashville, TN; Two Sons – Mac Walker of Copan, OK and Aaron Walker and his wife, Sarah, of Chetopa, KS; Two Daughters – Linseh Johnson and her husband, Nic, of Oswego, KS and Ashley Snider and her husband, Nathan, of Parsons, KS; Seven Grandchildren – Braydon Heady, Andelyn Johnson, Payton Walker, Hallie Snider, Lander Johnson, Evelyn Snider, and Bentley Walker; Two Brothers – Kevin Walker and his wife, Ashley, of La Grande, OR and Clay Walker and his wife, Tracy, of Oswego, KS; Two Sisters – Crystal Ralph-Haughn and her husband, Ira, of Dewey, OK and Lori Whittley of Miami, OK as well as Several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manny Walker; uncle, Bill Walker; best friend, Morgan Davis; paternal grandparents, Corb and Margaret Walker; and maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lorna Mercer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m., on Monday, at the funeral home. Friends may call at their convenience from 2 – 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home.
