Mildred G. Clark, 96, of Parsons, died at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born in Parsons, Kansas, to Herbert and Ethel (Baker) Sears on October 10, 1915. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons and graduated from both Parsons High School and Parsons Junior College. She then attended Pittsburg State Teachers College. For many years she taught schools, mostly in Labette County, and in 1976 retired from teaching at Mound Valley Grade School.
She was united in marriage to Lynn R. Clark on May 23, 1942, in Parsons. She and her husband owned and operated "Clark's Barn" used furniture store in Parsons for many years. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1992.
She enjoyed working puzzles and eating fried chicken. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with friends. She had attended the Church of the Brethren in Parsons.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Dorothy Wayshner of Melbourne, Florida; two step-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends may call at their convenience after 1:00 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home.
