Mildred "Lavon" Ohles, 93, of rural Oswego, died at 10:35 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, at Oswego Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born April 3, 1916, in Columbus, Kansas, to John and Effie (Boone) Ratcliff. She grew up and attended schools in Columbus where she graduated from Columbus High School.

She and Bill Ohles were married July 4, 1939, at Labette City. Following marriage, they moved to rural Oswego where they made their family home and farmed. He preceded her in death April 4, 1986.

She was a member of the Bartlett Christian Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking and embroidering.

Survivors include:
One Daughter – Cheryl Ohles Oswego, KS
Three Grandchildren
Six Great-Grandchildren
One Sister – Virginia VanAuker Riverton, KS

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and one son, Billy Joe.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
