Millie "Granny" Dixon, 89, of Parsons, passed away at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, at 1:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

She was born on January 15, 1930, in Parsons to Richard and Edna (Malone) Conley. As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Parsons. Her family later moved to Leavenworth.

In 1960, Millie returned to Parsons and worked as a cook at the Matthewson Hotel and later at the Parsonian Hotel.

She married Charles L. Dixon II. The couple later divorced.

Millie was a proud member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, watching westerns and Al Green, working crossword puzzles and collecting stuffed animals. Her greatest joy came from helping raise her grandchildren and caring for many kids in the community.

Dwayne Dixon and his wife, Barbie, of Garland, TX

Edward Dixon of Parsons, KS

William Dixon of Parsons, KS

Richard Dixon and his wife, Cheryl, of Sperry, OK

Four Daughters – Yvonne Dixon of Parsons, KS

Vanessa Richard and her husband, Elgie, of Topeka, KS

Deborah Holloway and her husband, Cliff, of Topeka, KS

Victoria Dixon of Parsons

Twenty-Three Grandchildren

Forty-Four Great-Grandchildren

Six Great-Great Grandchildren

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Russell "Wee" Conley; two sisters, Pauline Green and Evelyn Smith; one grandson, Christopher Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Dani Dixon and two great-grandchildren, Thomekah and Shade' Mayhue.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hamilton Chapel. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
