Misty K. Waun, 30, of Parsons, died Monday evening, November 30, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near McCune, Kansas.
She was born April 10, 1979, in Parsons, Kansas, to Jerry E. "Gene" Waun, Jr. and Karen Sue "Susie" (Michael) Waun.
As a young girl, she grew up and attended elementary schools in Parsons and Mound Valley. She was a 1997 graduate of Labette County High School; earned an Associate degree from Labette Community College in 2006; and a Bachelor's degree from Washburn University in 2007.
While attending college, she was employed by SKIL and also in the Radiology Department at Labette County Medical Center. In 2007, Misty was employed by Mt. Carmel Cancer Center in Pittsburg, Kansas, where she worked as a radiation therapist. She was traveling home from work when the accident occurred.
She loved playing bingo, going to the casinos, had a passion for shopping for her daughter, and especially enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. She was an adoring mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kaia; and a loving daughter, sister and friend. Misty was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed. She loved life and had every hope of seeing a cure for cancer in her lifetime.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
