Moauna Wilson

Moauna D. (Allen) Wilson, 95, of West Mineral, and formerly of McCune, entered into eternal rest while residing at ComfortCare Home of Pittsburg at 11:49 a.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019. Moauna passed comfortably with her mind at ease and ready to move on.

She was born December 30, 1923 in rural West Mineral, Kansas to Harry and Goldie (Morris) Allen. She attended Liberty School and graduated from West Mineral High School.

Moauna and Lyman Wilson were united in marriage on August 23, 1942 in Columbus, Kansas. Their early married life was spent in Columbus and in Oregon at Camp White during World War II. In 1947, the couple moved to McCune, Kansas where they operated the Jones Brothers Food Store until its closing in 1960. She retired in 1985 after 26 years of service with the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman, on April 13, 2001.

Moauna was a lifelong member of the McCune United Methodist Church and 50-year and life member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include:

One Son – Jim Wilson and wife, Rose Marie, of West Mineral, KS

Four Grandchildren – Mindy Garrett of West Mineral, KS

Diana Coble and her husband, Steve, of Joplin, MO

Jamie Wilson of Pittsburg, KS

Jeff Wilson and his wife, Heather, of Columbus, KS

Six Great-Grandchildren – Mary Garrett, Sierra Wilson, Keyth Waltrip, Garrett Coble, Gavin Coble, and Shelbi Wilson

Two Sisters – Winona Goedeke of rural Girard, KS

Ramona Honn of Wichita, KS

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Carrie Loretta Walker; and two brothers, Lloyd Allen and Gerald Allen.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted at the McCune Community Center starting at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Lunch will be provided. Family and friends are asked to please come and share their memories.

Moauna proudly supported her community through the M.I.C., her church family, and especially the McCune Library. Her family requests memorial contributions be made to the McCune Osage Township Library. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
