Morris Rickey, 57, of Chetopa, died at 6:03 a.m., Sunday, December 2, 2007, in the Labette Health Emergency Room. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.
He was born September 12, 1950, in Oswego, Kansas, to Lawrence Leroy and Lola Mae (Armstrong) Rickey. He was a graduate of Chetopa High School and had attended Coffeyville Jr. College. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Through the years, he was employed by B.F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma. He later worked as a truck driver and was presently retired. He enjoyed family, friends, dancing and having a good time.
He was a member of the Disabled Army Veterans, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chetopa, and had previously attended Tabitha Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Morris was dad, daddy, papa and grandpapa to many other children who looked up to him as a father figure in their life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one aunt, Louise Caldwell in 2005, and one brother, Fredrick in 1988.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
