N. "Dean" Alloway

N. "Dean" Alloway, 72, of rural Edna, passed away at his home early Thursday, July 26, 2018.

He was born May 16, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas to Norman Lee and Geraldine "Betty" (Cranor) Alloway.  During first and second grade he attended Star School, then Ellis Grade School, and in 1964 graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.  He then attended Coffeyville Community Junior College and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from Pittsburg State University.

Dean worked as a computer programmer at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for six months before serving in the United States Army.  While in the army, he was a computer programmer at the Pentagon before returning to Phillips Petroleum where he worked for the next 20 years. He then became the owner/operator of Alloway Construction Company building numerous new homes in the area.

He was a member of the House Church of Southeast Kansas.  He enjoyed reading and collecting books, antiques, tractors, and cars.

He and Barbara L. Cook were married April 29, 1966 in the United Methodist Church in Altamont. She survives of the home.

Twelve Grandchildren

One Great-Granddaughter

Two Brothers – Eugene Alloway and his wife, Helen, of Afton, OK

Frank Alloway and his wife, Glenda, of Parsons, KS

One Sister – Linda Herold and her husband, Kenny, of Altamont, KS

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Alloway, on May 8, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., August 4, 2018 at the Grace Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont.  The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., on August 3rd, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Dean Alloway Memorial Fund for missions. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
