Nedra A. Kirkland, 83, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away at 11:28 a.m., Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville.
She was born December 25, 1929, in Fredonia, Kansas, to Orville and Vesta (Rauch) Garland. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Mound Valley where she grew up, attended school, and was a graduate of Mound Valley High School.
On May 7, 1949, she and Fredrick Paul Kirkland were married in Oswego. After marriage, they lived and farmed near Edna. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1984. Following her husband's death, she moved to Coffeyville where she had lived since.
Through the years, she had worked as a caretaker and nursing assistant at Medicalodge in Coffeyville. In 2002, she was baptized at the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed antiques, dancing and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter – Paula A. Fiveash and husband, Robert H. Fiveash of Munford, TN; four grandchildren - Paul Ayers and wife, Monica; Tiffany Crosby and husband, Allen; Josh Kirkland, and Jessie Kirkland; three great-grandchildren – Sophia Ayers, Brooke Crosby, and E.A. Clark Crosby; additional loved ones – Phil and Tammy Kirkland and Lynn Hollingshead; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and one son, Fredrick Paul Kirkland, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
Memorials are suggested to Windsor Assisted Living Activity Fund or the American Heart Association. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
