Nellie Mae (Mcnamara) Journot

Nellie Mae (McNamara) Journot, 94, of Parsons, died at 12:21 a.m., Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons.

She was born January 17, 1916, in Bloomington, Illinois, to William E. and Susie (Duvall) McNamara. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended schools. She was a 1933 graduate of Parsons High School and attended Parsons Junior College.

On July 2, 1934, she and Emanuel B. Journot were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2001.

For many years, she was an Avon representative and managed several rental properties. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's, its Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed making ceramics and especially received great pleasure in making rosaries for family and friends.

Twenty Grandchildren
Thirty-Nine Great-Grandchildren
Five Great-Great-Grandchildren
One Sister – Marguerite Pabst Sedalia, MO

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Tom, and Jim McNamara; and one grandson, Mitch Journot.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2010, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, where the family will receive friends immediately following.
