Oletha J. (Campbell) Lawson, 69, of Independence, Missouri, formerly of Altamont, Kansas, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

She was born July 11, 1943, in Parsons, Kansas, to Oleth and Grace (Johnson) Campbell. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Parsons.

On December 28, 1958, she and Orville D. "Shorty" Lawson were married in Altamont. Following marriage, they lived in Altamont before moving to Independence, Missouri. In 1993, they moved to Tyro, Kansas. Following the death of her husband, she returned to Independence, Missouri, in 1997. Through the years, she had worked for the Rival Company.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crafts, making candy, painting, decorating wedding cakes and was an avid bowler. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Four Daughters – Terry Harvey and husband, Dennis Holden, MO
Lesa Taylor and husband, Les Independence, MO
Dena Sisson and husband, Frank Galesburg, IL
Tonya Osborn Peoria, IL
Fourteen Grandchildren
Five Great-Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Lawson, on October 9, 1995; one brother and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time, on Monday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
