Onyx Lee O'Brien, son of Jason and Carly (Newberry) O'Brien, was born and joined his family in Heaven on February 3, 2022, at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

He is lovingly survived by his parents and big brother, Owen, of the home; his maternal grandparents, Chad and Kim Newberry of St. Paul, Kansas; paternal grandparents, Jeff and Clarinda O'Brien, of St. Paul, Kansas; and Merrell and Brenda Edwards of Cherokee, Kansas; maternal great-grandmother, Shirley Newberry, of St. Paul, Kansas; paternal great-grandparents, Owen and Regina O'Brien of St. Paul, Kansas; Cecil and Diana Low of McCune, Kansas; and Thad and Karen Osgood of Parsons, Kansas.  He is also survived by his aunt and honorary godparents, Kayla Treiber and her husband, Dylan; aunt, Brooklyn Edwards; uncles, Clay Newberry, Lucas O'Brien, Patrick O'Brien and his wife, Aubrianna, and Braxton Edwards; and cousins, Cassie and Payton Treiber and Nataliann O'Brien.

Onyx was greeted in heaven by maternal great-grandparents, Charles and Jane VanLeeuwen and Dalton Newberry.

The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.  There will be a private family graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the Onyx O'Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund, established to help those who are studying in the medical and social services field.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P. O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
