Opal Irene Kelley, 91, of Parsons died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Parsons. She was born Oct. 15, 1918, near Pineville, Mo., to Grover Cleveland Studivan and Josie Ann (Schmidt) Studivan. She grew up and attended school in Noel, Mo., and Chetopa, graduating from high school in Pineville, Mo.
In the 1990s, she moved to Parsons and had lived here since. She and her husband owned and operated a filling station in Chetopa for several years.
She loved reading and gardening, especially flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Parsons and had been a member of the Eastern Star for many years.
She married George Aaron Kelley in February 1942 at Noel, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Snow of Parsons; four granddaughters, Robin Reitz, Rhonda Franklin, Rachael Butler and Mary Kay Hurd; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers in addition to her husband.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, 67357.
