Opel I. Hoffman, 80, of Wichita, died at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
She was born December 20, 1927, in Coldwater, Kansas, to Robert R. and Calla Lily (Guyer) Kessee. She grew up and attended schools in Coldwater.
She and Richard Hoffman were married April 24, 1948, in Vinita, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, they lived south of Coldwater and then Alva before moving to Wichita in 1954. In 1955, they moved to Haysville. They divorced in 1978. She moved to Wichita in 1982 where she had lived since.
She worked for Dockum Drug and Kreonite in Wichita and retired from there in 1998. She sold Avon for many years.
She enjoyed cross stitching, watching cooking shows, and collecting recipes. She was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Wichita and the American Legion Auxiliary Air Capitol Post No. 401 in Wichita.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Hoffman in November 2001; one infant daughter, Carol Ann Hoffman; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2008, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church in Wichita. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church. Following cremation, burial of ashes will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas.
