Patricia A. "Patty" Mulberry, 70, of Parsons, unexpectedly passed away at 5:05 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Labette Health Emergency Room.

She was born, December 7, 1949, to Leo and Leona (Ruttgen) O'Connor.  She grew up in Parsons and attended the former St. Mary's Catholic School in Parsons and then the St. Patrick's Catholic School where she graduated in 1968.  She worked for a time at the former Bob's Sports Center in Parsons and later Superior School Supply for several years until her retirement.  For a time following her retirement, she worked in medical records at the former Labette County Medical Center, now Labette Health.

Patty loved the Kansas City Chiefs!  She was also an avid KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Royals fan.    She loved swimming, listening to country music and reading.  She loved watching music shows on television, especially American Idol.  She had been active at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in the past and was a member of Parsons Elks Lodge.

She was first married to Daryl Carson.  They later divorced.  On April 4, 1986, she was married to Thomas E. "Tom" Mulberry in Parsons.  He survives, of the home.

Survivors include:

Her husband – Thomas E. "Tom" Mulberry of Parsons, Kansas

One son – Brad Carson of Parsons, Kansas

One daughter – Jennifer Rodie of Altamont, Kansas

One step-son – Tom Mulberry, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Blaine, Minnesota

Two step-daughters -Lisa Schwang and her husband, T.J., of St. Louis, Missouri

Mandie Morgan and her husband, Rod, of Mulvane, Kansas

Thirteen-grandchildren – Dalton, Brock, Ashley, Bret, Jessica, Matthew, Michael, Christopher, Zach, Katy, Emily, Haley and Samantha

One great-granddaughter

One brother – Larry O'Connor of Lawrence, Kansas

One sister – Louise Vanilew and her husband, David, of Lee's Summit, Missouri

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen O'Connor who passed away in 1959; her son-in-law, Sam Rodie; and her niece, Andrea O'Connor.

Funeral services for Patty Mulberry will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2020 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons.   The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.  The family will receive friends following the Rosary.  The rosary and the funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude's Children's Hospitals or the American Heart Association and these may left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, PO Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
