Patricia "Patty" (Dickens) Mcbride

Patricia I. "Patty" (Dickens) McBride, 81, of Parsons, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born December 28, 1936 in Neodesha, Kansas to Oren Leeman and Fayrene Eva (Kenworthy) Dickens. She grew up and attended school in Neodesha and graduated in 1955 from Neodesha High School.

On December 28, 1977, she and Bruce H. McBride were married in Forest Park, Georgia. Following marriage, the couple lived in various locations including Georgia, Olathe, Kansas, and Alabama before moving to Parsons in 2000.

She was a member of the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, crocheting, and working puzzle books. She had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good joke. Patty was an avid QVC shopper and always looked forward to receiving packages in the mail. She also loved the Kansas City Chiefs. Derrick Thomas was her all-time favorite player with Tony Gonzalez a close second. Patty's family meant the world to her. She had a personal relationship with each family member including her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

Two Stepsons – Randy and Ron

Two Stepdaughters – Christy and Cathy

One Brother – Albert Dickens (Marge) of Chanute, KS

One Sister – Sue Hadaegh of Parsons, KS

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce McBride, on April 22, 2001; one brother, Richard "Tiny" Dickens; and three sisters, Norma Bennett, Peggy Collins, and Sharon Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Verdigris Valley Christian Church in Altoona, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-6:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
