Patricia A. "Pat" Divine, 85, of Parsons, passed away Sunday morning, May 8, 2016 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor where she had resided since January of 2015.
Pat was born in Parsons, Kansas on March 1, 1931, to James and Pearl (Spurgeon) Roberts. She attended Parsons Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Parsons High School. While a 2nd grader at Washington Elementary, she met her future husband. She graduated from Labette Community Junior College and attended Wichita State University. While in Wichita, she worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator.
On May 30, 1952, she married Darrell W. "Nick" Divine at the former Washington Avenue United Methodist Church in Parsons. The Divines spent 53 of their 63 years of married life in Parsons. For 10 years, they lived in Humboldt where Pat worked as a receptionist for a veterinary clinic. After returning to her hometown in 1966, she worked in the business office of Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1986. She then worked at the Commercial Bank for 10 years.
The Divines enjoyed following their grandchildren's many activities, never missing a ballgame or program. They also enjoyed traveling with their special friends and country line dancing.
Pat enjoyed playing bridge and was a former member of several bridge clubs. She was also a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching Jayhawk basketball, Royals baseball, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lawson and her husband, Tom, of Pittsburg, Kansas; a son, Dan Divine and his wife, Mary, of Hutchinson, Kansas; two grandsons, Jake Lawson and his wife, Julie, of Sour Lake, Texas, and Josh Lawson and his wife, Greer, of Aiken, South Carolina; two granddaughters, Lauren Divine of Overland Park, Kansas and her fiancé, C.J. Thiele, and Sarah Divine of Dodge City, Kansas; and three great-granddaughters, Lane, Olivia, and Maren Lawson.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Nick, a daughter, Brenda Sue, and a sister, Gertrude Stork.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
