Patricia Anne "Pat" Patterson, 77, of Parsons, passed away at 12:23 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Labette Health in Parsons. She was born July 20, 1937 in Chetopa, Kansas to John and Lucille (Frogley) Burrows. Pat grew up and attended schools in Chetopa and was a 1955 graduate of Chetopa High School. She later attended Labette Community College in Parsons. On October 16, 1953, she and John A. Patterson were married at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Emma Frogley, in Chetopa. While her husband was serving in the United States Army, she worked in communications at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. After living in Las Cruses, New Mexico, they lived in Hamilton, Kansas before moving to Parsons where they lived for 48 years. While in Parsons, Pat worked 25 years for Unified School District 503 as a classroom aide and secretary at both McKinley and Garfield Elementary Schools. Following retirement from the school district, she worked at the Katy Clinic in Medical Records and also as a receptionist for Dr. Pai at Labette County Medical Center. She was a longtime member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. Pat's greatest joy came when spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. She also enjoyed craftwork, painting, and going to the casinos and playing the slot machines with her sister and friends. Survivors include: Two Daughters – Teresa Blevins and her husband, David Parsons, KS Michele Harris and her husband, Tim Tribune, KS Four Grandchildren – Travis Blevins (Shelly) Christopher Blevins (Jessica) Taylor Harris Bailey Harris Three Great-Grandchildren – Blake Blevins, Dalton Blevins, and Zach Cruse Sister – JoAnn Wood Pittsburg, KS Numerous Nieces and Nephews A Host of Friends She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Patterson, on March 9, 2007; her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and two sisters, Bobbie Lou Swanwick and Carol Jean Cassell. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorials are suggested to the Faith United Methodist Church.
