Patrick M. "Pat" Flynn, 76, of Parsons, died at his home Sunday morning, May 14, 2017. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.
He was born on March 1, 1941 in Parsons to Leo and Katie (Jungles) Flynn. He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and St. Patrick's High School before graduating from Labette County High School in 1959. Pat worked at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in Parsons for several years. In 1969, he began working for the M-K-T Railroad. Pat worked for the railroad for 33 years as a conductor. He retired in 2002.
He enjoyed swimming, bicycling, and running. He participated in many triathlons including the Iron Man Competition in 1987 in Kona, Hawaii.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and also the Elks Club.
In 1960, he and Cheryl Moses were married. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Eddie Flynn, two sisters, Clara Mae Booe, and Mary Ann Howard.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 7:00 p.m., following the rosary.
