Patricia L. "Patty" Marshall, 58, of Thayer, Kansas, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born September 7, 1957 at Chanute, Kansas to Olin H. and Alice M. (VanMeter) Goins. She grew up and attended grade school in Thayer and then attended the Independence Bible Holiness School where she graduated from high school there in 1975. Patty loved farming and ranching and did so throughout most of her life. She also had worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years. Patty loved decorating, flower gardening and landscaping. She also loved deer hunting, riding horses and traveling to Colorado with her family. She had also been actively involved in the Kids Rodeo at Thayer for over 35 years. Patty was an active member of the Thayer Christian Church and had served in the church's preschool for several years. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Association in Chanute. Patty was united in marriage to Larry Marshall on February 7, 1998 at Chanute, Kansas. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include, Two daughters, Crystal Widemon and her husband, Jason of Tyler, Texas, Cami Corwin and her husband, Thomas of Thayer, Kansas; Two sons, Justin Marshall and his wife, Tiffany of Edmond, Oklahoma, Scott Marshall and his wife, Carissa of Emporia, Kansas; Twelve grandchildren; Father, Olin H. Goins of Thayer, Kansas; Two sisters, Dedra Cavaness and her husband, Tim of Thayer, Kansas, Gayle Garretson and her husband, Mark of Thayer, Kansas; Special friends, Charlotte and Carl Rommel and Marvin and Bonnie Leck. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Monica. Funeral services for Patty will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Thayer Christian Church in Thayer, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Thayer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Thayer Christian Preschool, The Equine Eagles of Independence, Kansas or The House on the Rock at Kiefer, Oklahoma.
