Paul E. Attebery, III, 78, formerly of Parsons and more recently of Newton, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020, at Chisholm Place Care Facility in Wichita, Kansas.
Paul Elmer Attebery, III, was born on May 10, 1942, as the only child of Paul and Mary (Plumer) Attebery in Parsons, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Parsons.
Upon graduation from high school, Paul served as a paratrooper in the United States Army during peacetime. Paul's professional career was with Southwestern Bell/ATT as the telephone man, climbing poles and working in manholes to keep everyone connected.
When living in Parsons, Paul was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active bowler, slow pitch softball pitcher and was coach for his girls' softball teams. As a Jaycee Senator, Paul and his wife, Sally, enjoyed attending Jaycee conventions and collecting convention pins. In more recent years, Paul's favorite days were visits with his grandkids at home.
On October 2, 1965, Paul married his sweetheart, Marcella "Sally" Posch. The couple enjoyed 54 years of marriage and she survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Alec Tillman; his parents, Paul and Mary Attebery; and his admired grandparents, Paul and Thelma Attebery.

The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, at the church. The rosary and the funeral Mass can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
