Phillip R. Long, 81, of McCune, passed away the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his home.
Phillip Ray Long was born on July 9, 1943, to Alvin Leroy and Lula Belle (Dixon) Long in McCune, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in McCune, graduating from McCune High School in 1962.
Following high school, Phillip began farming with his father and brothers. In 1968, he began working at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant where for 39 years, he ran the heavy equipment for the Roads and Ground Department until retiring in 2007. During those years, he also farmed and raised and trained horses.
Phillip enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. He wanted nothing more than to run tractors and be in the fields helping his son farm, until his health wouldn't let him. He was not shy when he was at an All You Can Eat Buffet of catfish and shrimp.
