Phyllis A. McAtee, 64, died at 7:57 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, Kansas.
She was born August 14, 1942 in Girard to Edward C. and Gertrude (Diskin) LaForge. She grew up in the rural Greenbush area and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1960. For a time, she worked for the Census Bureau in Pittsburg. From 1989-2004 she was employed by the SEK Education Center in Greenbush.
On August 17, 1963, she and Michael L. "Mick" McAtee were married at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Greenbush. He survives of the home.
She enjoyed making crafts, woodworking, quilting and being a homemaker. She especially cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, the St. Francis Altar Society and a life member of the St. Aloysius Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Vitt, and two brothers, Bernard LaForge and Patrick LaForge.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2006 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. The family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
