Phyllis E. Nutt

Phyllis E. Nutt, 83, a longtime resident of McCune, died at 4:25 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Oswego Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided the past eleven years.

She was born December 31, 1929, in Beulah, Kansas, to Elba Earl and Ethel Francina (Burris) Martin. As a young girl, she grew up in the Hiattville, Girard and McCune areas and was a graduate of McCune High School.

Through the years, Phyllis had worked as a special education paraprofessional at McCune Grade School.

She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons where she taught Sunday School, and especially enjoyed having a children's Bible Club in her home for many years. Phyllis loved animals and enjoyed genealogy, crafts and making puppets to be used in church work.

She and Clayton R. Nutt were married April 22, 1948, in McCune. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1992.

Jan Bevins and her husband, Randy McCune, KS
Daughter-in-law – Wanda "Wendy" Nutt Parsons, KS
Nine Grandchildren – Brian Nutt and his wife, Kristi; Chris Nutt and his wife, Roxanne; Deanna Linder, Scott Linder and his wife, Amy; Nathan Buzard and his wife, Angela; James Buzard and his wife, Julie; Andrew Buzard, Sarah Stevens and her husband, James; and Audrey Graham and her husband, Robert, Jr.
Seventeen Great-Grandchildren
One Brother – Richard Martin and his wife, Dolores Payson, AZ
One Sister – Margie Quenoy and her husband, John Delores, CO

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael "Mike" Nutt, on October 27, 2003; one grandson, Brett Linder, on June 18, 1999; one brother, Keith Martin; and an infant sister, Marilyn Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time, on Saturday, at the funeral home.
