Dean Olinger, 70, of Parsons, died at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Freeman Heart Institute in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born March 31, 1938, in Chanute, Kansas, to Harry Lorraine and Dorothy Anna (Carter) Olinger. As a young boy, he grew up in Thayer where he attended school and was a 1956 graduate of Thayer High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, he attended Wichita State University. Most of his career was spent working in sales at Lipton Tea and Vicks Chemical. In later years, he was owner/operator of a kitchen remodeling company.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. For a time, he owned his own plane and enjoyed flying.

One Son – Larry Olinger St. Joseph, MO
Three Grandchildren
One Brother – Ron Olinger and his wife, Bernita Duncan, Oklahoma

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Olinger.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Harrison Cemetery, rural Thayer.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
