Ramona L. De Cow

Ramona De Cow, 68, of Edna, passed away the evening of Thursday, January 7, 2021, at her home.

Ramona Lee Hastings was born on September 1, 1952, to Arthur and Mary (Ware) Hastings in Parsons, Kansas. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Parsons, graduating from Labette County High School in 1970.

On October 12, 1973, Ramona and Ronald D. De Cow were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Parsons. Throughout the years, besides raising her family and running a dairy farm with her husband, Ramona had worked at Broderick's Inc, sewing factory in Oswego.

A devoted wife and mother, Ramona enjoyed helping her children with their school projects as they were growing up. She also enjoyed traveling, walking in nature and watching Western movies.

One son – Clinton Leon De Cow of Edna, Kansas

One daughter – Julie Smith and her husband, Richard, of Vista, California

One granddaughter – Samantha Smith of Vista, California

One brother – Charles Hastings of Parsons, Kansas

Two sisters – Sheena Hastings of Parsons, Kansas

Shirley Powell and her husband, George, of Michigan

One sister-in-law – Darlene Trollope of Coffeyville, Kansas

Two brothers-in-law – Terry De Cow of Edna, Kansas

Marvin De Cow of Wichita, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother and sister-in-law, David and Peggy Hastings.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
