Ramond Clare Schneider, 95, longtime Parsons resident, passed away at 1:32 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at his home.
On December 25, 1924, Ramond Clare Schneider was born to Titus and Leona (Good) Schneider in Dennis, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Dennis. After graduating from Dennis High School in 1941, Clare worked at the Kansas Ordinance Plant (now the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant) until entering the United States Army and serving in World War II. In 1949, Clare moved back to Parsons and built houses in Independence for a time. Clare had a long career at Sun Graphics and farmed on the side, until retiring at age 70.
Clare was a member of the Dennis United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working with stain glass, quilting and going to senior citizen dances. Always wanting to help others, Clare was a volunteer driver for the DAV, transporting veterans to the VA hospital in Wichita; delivered Stella Wells boxes and volunteered with the Red Cross during Hurricane Katrina recovery.
On June 25, 1949, Clare and Clydine Mae Likins were united in marriage at the Dennis Evangelical United Brethren Church in Dennis. She preceded him in death on December 16, 1996.
Survivors include:
Two daughters – Anita K. "Kathy" Schneider of Osawatomie, Kansas
Teresa D. "Teri" Schneider of Topeka, Kansas
Five grandchildren
Five great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clydine; one daughter, Regina Marie Schneider in January 1995; three brothers and four sisters.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Dennis.
Memorials are suggested to Stella Wells or the American Red Cross. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
