Randy D. McKinnis, 47, of rural Erie, died at 11:10 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2008, at Labette Health. He had been in failing health but death was not expected.
He was born August 21, 1961, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to David Monroe and Virginia Lois (Higgins) McKinnis. As a young boy, he grew up and attended schools in Galesburg and Parsons, and later attended Erie High School.
He served in the United States Army Reserves, and, through the years, had worked as a construction laborer.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his father.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
