Randy R. Steeves, 57, of rural McCune, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.
He was born November 1, 1952, in Neodesha, Kansas, to Donald and Shirley (Smith) Steeves. He grew up in rural Altoona where he attended schools and was a graduate of Altoona-Midway High School. He then earned a Bachelor's degree while attending Kansas State University and had also worked toward a Master's degree at Pittsburg State University.
He and Rosemary Simon were married June 4, 1977, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Greenbush, Kansas. Through the years he worked at Exchange State Bank in St. Paul and Community National Bank in Parsons. He was currently working as an independent appraiser and with his sons at Timber Creek Meats in Parsons in retail.
He attended both St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons and Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and K-State athletics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. For many years he coached Little League baseball and served as board member. He also served as board member for Altoona-Midway Unified School District No. 387 and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Randy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who always had time for others and will be deeply missed.

Sonya Meigs Neodesha, KS
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
The funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2009, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Greenbush. The rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following.
