Randy Ray Waun

Randy Ray Waun, 37, of Leadwood, Missouri, and formerly of Dennis, Kansas, joined his family in heaven on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

He was born March 23, 1981 in Parsons, Kansas to Jerry E. "Gene" Waun, Jr. and Karen Sue "Susie" (Michael) Waun.

As a young boy, Randy attended Mound Valley Grade School and later Labette County High School in Altamont. He was a hard worker and had worked various jobs throughout his adult life.

Randy enjoyed fishing, floating the river, sitting on the porch enjoying morning coffee, bonfires, and playing dominos with his son, Kenny. Family was important to Randy. He always enjoyed family reunions, playing cards in the "man cave", and always showed up with a smile and a carefree ornery personality.

Survivors include his wife, Staurla Waun, of Leadwood, MO; one son, Kenny Waun, of the home; one daughter, Parys Sims and her husband, Cody, of Parsons, KS; one granddaughter, Zoey Sims, of Parsons, KS; his parents, Gene and Susie Waun, of Dennis, KS; two brothers, Jerry Waun and his wife, Ginger, of Independence, KS and Terry Waun and his wife, Candy, of Altamont, KS; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Misty Waun, on November 30, 2009; grandson, Cash Sims; cousins, Casey and Levi Waun; paternal grandfather, Jerry Waun, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Waun; maternal great-grandfather, Emmett Thomas; and maternal great-grandmother, Grace Thomas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis.
