Raymond A. "Tony" Houston, 56, of Parsons, died at 1:40 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2008, at his home. He had been in failing health.

He was born September 4, 1951, in Parsons, to Raymond Edward and Willnella (Monroe) Houston. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons and later attended Emporia State University. In 1967, he joined the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he worked at B&R Tire, the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, and Dayton Superior until becoming disabled due to health.

He enjoyed working on cars, yard work and reading science fiction. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Local Lodge No. 293 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Willnella Houston.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2008, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the funeral home.
