Raymond L. "Ray" Brooks, 88, formerly of Girard, passed away at 11:22 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2020, at Pittsburg Care and Rehab.
Raymond Lee Brooks was born on May 3, 1932, to Earl and Bertha (Green) Brooks in Monouth, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in the Monmouth area in rural Crawford County. Following high school, Ray lived in the Kansas City area for a few years before settling permanently in Girard. Ray was a lineman for R.E.A. and SeKan for most of his working career. He later worked as an electrician.
Ray was a talented musician and for years he loved to play his guitar and share his music with others. Ray was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church in Girard, where he would go house to house spreading the Word of Christ.
In November 1951, Ray and Christine Jones were married. The couple later divorced. In July 1983, Ray and Vonda Brown were united in marriage. She survives of the home.

Pam Newell and her husband, Stephen, of Parsons, Kansas
Two grandchildren
Four great-grandchildren
One brother – James Brooks of Coffeyville, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vernon Brooks; and one sister, Helen Brooks-Allen.
There will be a private family graveside service at a later date at the Girard Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
