Raymond Earl Ewan

Raymond Earl "Ray" Ewan, 66, of Parsons, died at 3:20 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home. He had been in failing health.

He was born March 30, 1941, in rural Walnut, Kansas, to Lester William and Dorothy Catherine (McClelland) Ewan. He grew up and attended schools in the Girard area. He lived and worked there doing various construction jobs until marriage.

He and Jacquelin K. Snyder were married July 16, 1966, in Parsons, where they have lived since. She survives of the home.

Through the years, he worked on road construction as a heavy equipment operator. In 1965, he joined the Carpenters Union – Parsons Local No. 1022. He also worked as a carpenter for many years and as a field representative from the early 1980's until retiring in 2001.

He enjoyed remodeling houses and working on cars.

He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America – Local No. 311 in Joplin, and the Elks Lodge in Parsons.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ewan, and an infant brother, Milton Donald Ewan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.
