Raymond J. Mckinney

November 25, 1929 — June 2, 2008

Raymond J. McKinney, 78, of Humboldt, formerly of Erie, died at 11:29 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2008, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

He was born November 25, 1929, in South Mound, Kansas, to William L. "Bill" and Emma A. (Thomas) McKinney. In 1938, he moved with his family to Erie where he attended school and later worked, with his father, as a mechanic at the family-owned DX service station. He lived with his parents until 1990. At that time, he moved to Tri-Valley, in Humboldt, where he had lived since.

He enjoyed working, helping maintain the church lawn, bowling, rodeos, and participating in the Special Olympics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie.

One Aunt - Gertrude McKinney Parsons, KS

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Bob, Bill and Richard McKinney.

Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery, The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the church. The family will receive friends following the Rosary.
