Rebecca "Becky" Thornton, 73, of St. Paul, died at 3:28 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

She was born April 25, 1936, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Emil Robert and Ella Hortense (Watson) Snively. She grew up and attended schools in Colorado Springs where she graduated from high school.

In 1957, she moved to Humboldt, Kansas, where she lived until moving to Chanute, Kansas, in 1964. She then moved to Walnut, Kansas, in March 2005, where she lived prior to becoming a resident at Prairie Mission Retirement Village, in November 2007, and had lived there since.

She was a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Chanute. She loved to sew and read books. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sons, Dale Thornton, Jr., and infant Emil James Thornton.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village Chapel in St. Paul.
