Richard D. Davis, 69, of Chetopa, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 at Oswego Health and Rehab.
He was born November 30, 1946 in Oswego, Kansas to George William and Helen Katherine (Sherwood) Davis. As a young boy, he grew up in Wann, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated from high school.
He then attended college in Wichita and at Coffeyville Community College where he participated in theatre. While in Coffeyville, he worked as a disc jockey at KGGF radio station. For a time, he worked on the family farm before moving to Tulsa where he worked as a carpenter.
In 2001, Richard returned to Chetopa where he had lived since. He was a proud supporter of the Chetopa City Library and received great pleasure from donating "The Thinker" statue to the library.
He enjoyed nature, writing poems and songs, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
In October of 1981, he married Lori Hill in Chetopa. They later divorced.

One Brother - Jack Pierce Tulsa, OK
One Sister – Karen Poor Chetopa, KS
Two Half-Brothers – George Davis Chetopa, KS
Jimmy Davis Chetopa, KS
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dan Davis, on April 5, 2016; and two half-brothers, David Davis and Bobby Davis.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call at their convenience from 2-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
