Richard R. "Dick" Greer

Richard R. "Dick" Greer, 59, of Erie, formerly of Parsons, died at 8:15 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008, at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born March 18, 1949, in Parsons, Kansas, to Quincy B. and Helen G. (Bishop) Greer. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons graduating from Parsons High School. He served in the United States Army Reserves.

He worked as a contract telephone engineer for 30 years, traveling extensively throughout the United States, before returning to Parsons in 2003.

He was an active member of Tri-State Faith Center in Parsons, an avid reader and enjoyed computers. He also enjoyed participating in various sports and enjoyed music.

He and Jane M. Reynolds were married July 19, 1975, in Branson, Missouri. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30, Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Tri-State Faith Center in Parsons. Following the funeral service, the body will be cremated. A private committal service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery by the family at a future date. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the Labette Health Foundation for the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
