Rick A. Hizey, 68, of Parsons, passed away at 8:37 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born December 5, 1949 in Parsons, Kansas to Roy and Eunice (Weirich) Hizey. He grew up and attended school in Galesburg where he was a 1967 graduate of Galesburg High School. Rick later attended Labette Community Junior College in Parsons, Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri, and Mid-South Christian College in Memphis, Tennessee.
He and Mary E. Dulavey were married January 24, 1967 in Galesburg. Following marriage, they lived mostly in the Parsons area.
Rick started building houses with his dad after high school and built his first "spec" house on his own in Prairie West at the age of 18. He continued to build many houses in the Prairie West and Clark additions. During college, he worked at the Physical Plant at Ozark Bible College and filled in as a supply preacher at various area churches. After working 8 ½ years as Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Parsons, Rick retired on September 29, 2016. He established R&M Properties and managed numerous rental properties. Rick was currently managing condo rental properties in Branson, Missouri as well as remodeling a home in Parsons.
He was a member of the Galesburg Christian Church. He enjoyed anything pertaining to construction, raising cattle, was an avid KU basketball fan, and family activities above all else.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Hizey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
