Rickey A. Nash

Rickey Allen "Rick" Nash, 68, of Chetopa, entered his heavenly home to be greeted by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Integris Hospital in Miami, Oklahoma, with his family by his side.

Rick was born on October 22, 1954, to Donald Dewane and Wilma June (Stapleton) Nash in Faulkner.  He grew up to become the Rock of his family.

Born into a family of seven children, he spent his childhood roaming the countryside around Faulkner with his siblings and cousins doing things his mother specifically told him not to do.

Rick attended elementary school in Faulkner and attended 9 ^th and 10 ^th grades at Labette County High School, where he held a state record for Shot Put in Track and Field for a time.  In the middle of his sophomore year, he quit school to join the family trucking business.  He loved telling his kids later in life about the places and things he saw.  Besides driving trucks, Rick spent many years working in the coal mines for Fuel Dynamics and Ranchers Coal driving heavy equipment.  Following the coal mining years, he worked at ACE Electric and CNC Machine Shop, before retiring in 2021, from Shape Technologies (formerly Ingersol Rand) in Baxter Springs.

Rick was a man who could do anything he set he mind to.  In his younger years, he loved to race his 69 Toreno with a 428 Cobra Jet at MoKan Dragway (winning several trophies); climbing all the hills in the pits with his dune buggy, that he built himself, or his jeep; and building or rebuilding motors for all different vehicles.  As he grew older, he expanded his hobbies to woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, reloading shells and building anything that you could dream from cabinets to trailers.    A faithful Christian, Rick was founding member of Community Bible Church in Chetopa, where he served as a board member and used his talents to design and build the church steeple. He was a quiet many of many talents.  His quiet spirit drew many people to him.  Of all his hobbies and jobs, his greatest accomplishments and joy came from being Dad and Papa to his children, grandchildren and family.  Time with his family, especially if hunting or fishing was involved, was his favorite.

On June 29, 1985, Rick married the love of his life, Sherry D. Williams in Eagletown, Oklahoma.  Sherry survives of the home.

Three brothers-in-law – Howard Williams of Eagletown, Oklahoma

Kennith Williams of Ada, Oklahoma

Michael Williams of Eagletown, Oklahoma

A host of extended family and friends

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Kenny Nash and Steve Nash.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa with burial in the Fairview Cemetery in rural Chetopa.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the church.
