Rural Parsons

Robert E. "Bob" Adams, 82, of rural Parsons, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

He was born on May 5, 1939, to Robert Eugene and Elsie (Foreman) Adams in Parsons. While growing up on the family farm in rural Labette County, he attended school and showed cattle in 4-H and FFA. In 1958, Robert graduated from Labette County Community High School and then he attended Labette County Junior College for a year and also served in the National Guard.

His life was dedicated to farming the family farm homestead in rural Labette County. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Parsons.

On June 2, 1962, Robert and Carolyn S. Ramsey were united in marriage at St. John's Episcopal Church. She survives of the home.

Survivors include:

His wife – Carolyn, of the home

One daughter – Dana Carter and her fiancée, Randy Brown, of Erie, Kansas

Two grandsons – Justin Willems and Levi Willems

Eight great-grandchildren – Isabelle, Skylar, Noah, Jackson, Jeremiah, Jonnie, Kasyn and Macy

His twin sister – Roberta Hoffman and her husband, Peter, of Silver Spring, Maryland

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dolores Young.

The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Facebook page.

Memorials are suggested to Wildcat District Foundation to benefit Labette County 4-H programs. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
