DODGE CITY – Robert "Bob" Arensdorf, 85, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at his home in Dodge City.
He was born April 2, 1925 at Ellinwood, the son of Peter and Edith Komarek Arensdorf. He moved to Ensign, Kansas with his family at the age of 5. He grew up on the family farm where he lived and farmed for most of his life until moving into Ensign in 2000 and in July of 2009, moved to Dodge City. He also worked at Speed King in Dodge City and for the Gray County Road Department. He enjoyed hunting, bowling and playing pool.
In 1944 he joined the United States Army and served during WWII, after graduating from Ensign High School in 1943.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Knights of Columbus Council 2955 both in Dodge City. He was also a member of the American Pool Association and Billiards Congress of America.
On May 29, 1958 he married Anne Scoggins at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Jesse Scoggins and wife Donna, Parsons, Kansas; a daughter, Carrol Burnett and husband Roger, Dodge City; a brother, Roger Arensdorf and wife Gerry, New Braunfels, Texas; a sister-in-law, Yozelle Arensdorf, La Junta, Colorado; 7 grandchildren, Eric McKinley and wife Christina, RaeAnna Bolmer and husband Buc, Evan McKinley and wife Felicia, Audrey Forbes and husband Greg, Monica Sumner and husband Doug, Sara McDonald and husband Mark and Parker Scoggins and Heather; 18 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Russel.
Vigil Service will be 7:00 pm Monday, August 30, 2010 at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
