Robert Dean Evans, 65, of rural Chetopa, died at 10:35 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, in the Emergency Room at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
He was born October 28, 1946, in Columbus, Kansas, to Robert and Barbara (Hale) Evans. He was a graduate of Columbus High School and later earned an Associate degree from Labette Community College in Parsons. Robert Dean was a world class ACE certified mechanic.
For a number of years he owned and operated Evans Body Shop and Garage in Chetopa. He had also taught auto mechanics at Universal Tech Institute in Houston, Texas, and most recently was manager of Goodyear Tech Shop in Spring, Texas.
He was a member of the Champion Life Centre in Houston, Texas.
On December 23, 1972, he and Barbara Schultz were maried at the Baptist Church in Chetopa. She survives.

Following cremation, graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery near Chetopa under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
