Robert L. "Woody" Woodman

November 21, 1938 — July 26, 2007

Robert L. "Woody" Woodman, 68, of Parsons, died at 3:20 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the Elmhaven West nursing home. He had been in failing health.

He was born November 21, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Jack and Evelyn (Scofield) Woodman. As a child, he moved with his family to Parsons, where he grew up and attended schools. He also attended college for two years and the Honda Mechanical School in California.

On November 23, 1955, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the military police of the 317th Air Police Squadron until receiving his discharge in June 21, 1960.

For several years, he operated a Honda motorcycle shop. He later was employed as a supervisor at the former Adventure Line in Parsons. He also owned and operated several taverns.

He was very artistic and painted murals on signs and vans. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and racing them on a flat track. He also enjoyed fishing, telling stories and BBQ's. He was a member of the Three 6's Motorcycle Club.

He and Teresa Landers were married May, 1956; they were later divorced. He and Judy Journot were married in 1963; they were later divorced. He married Kathy Amos on August 26, 1985; they were later divorced.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, with military honors given by the McConnell Air Force Base and the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday. Memorials are suggested to "SKILL", Southeast Kansas Independent Living.
